Overview:

The International Families Justice Coalition (IFJC) is dedicated to providing critical legal assistance to indigent immigrant families facing domestic relations challenges. We are seeking dedicated and passionate volunteers to join our team and contribute to various aspects of our mission. IFJC values volunteers with diverse skills, particularly those who are multilingual, to enhance our ability to serve our community effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Community Outreach:

  • Purpose: Help raise awareness about IFJC’s mission and services within the community.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Participate in outreach activities and events to promote IFJC.
    • Distribute informational materials to community members.
    • Engage with local organizations and stakeholders to build partnerships.
    • Gather feedback from the community to help improve IFJC’s services.

2. Fundraising:

  • Purpose: Support IFJC’s financial sustainability by assisting in fundraising efforts.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist in organizing and executing fundraising events and campaigns.
    • Help identify potential donors and sponsors.
    • Support grant writing and application processes.
    • Cultivate relationships with donors through follow-up and appreciation efforts.

3. Client Support:

  • Purpose: Provide direct assistance to IFJC clients in navigating legal processes.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist clients with initial consultations and assessments.
    • Help clients understand their legal options and procedures.
    • Support clients in gathering necessary documentation and preparing for legal proceedings.
    • Provide emotional support and reassurance throughout the legal process.

4. Legal:

  • Purpose: Offer pro bono or low-bono legal services to clients in need.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents and pleadings.
    • Represent clients in court when volunteer attorneys are unavailable.
    • Work alongside IFJC’s legal team to develop legal strategies.
    • Participate in continuing legal education (CLE) sessions to stay informed on relevant issues.

5. Education and Training:

  • Purpose: Assist in developing and delivering educational programs for legal professionals and volunteers.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Help create training materials, including webinars, workshops, and guides.
    • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions for attorneys, volunteers, and staff.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and suggest improvements.
    • Assist in organizing CLE events and ensuring they meet accreditation requirements.

6. Operations Support:

  • Purpose: Provide logistical and administrative support to ensure smooth operations at IFJC.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and scheduling.
    • Help manage IFJC’s online presence, including updating the website and social media.
    • Support the preparation and distribution of marketing and outreach materials.
    • Aid in coordinating events, meetings, and special projects.

Qualifications:

• Passion for IFJC’s mission and commitment to supporting immigrant families.
• Relevant skills or experience in the specific volunteer role.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Willingness to dedicate time and effort, including attendance at volunteer meetings and events.
• IFJC values multilingual volunteers to better serve our diverse client base.

Time Commitment:

• Flexible, based on the volunteer role and availability.
• Participation in relevant training sessions and meetings as needed.
• Commitment to ongoing volunteer activities as agreed upon with IFJC.
